Life Lessons

Happy Sunday! Today’s post is dedicated to all the amazing, fabulous and phenomenal moms, moms to be, and women out there. She is supportive and encouraging even when you don’t see it in yourself. She recognizes the greatest potential in you before you see it. She gives effortlessly without expecting anything in return. A mother’s love is limitless.

When I was younger, I would often hear people say “you know you are getting older when you start sounding like your mom”! Just the other day, I was having a conversation with someone and I can remember me saying something. I had to pause and laugh because honestly it was something my mom would say. And I said to myself, I must be getting older. As I have gotten older I have learned to value every lesson my mom has taught me from business to life. My mother and I might not see eye to eye all the time, but she has taught me so much. My mother was the driving force behind me starting Champagne and Cake. I don’t think I would ever have published my first post if it wasn’t for my mom. She looked at me one day and said “ So are you going to go for it”? And that very same day Champagne and Cake became a reality.

My mom is an amazing women. I can’t put into words how much she means to me. In the words of my fave rapper/poet Tupac, “There’s no way, I can pay you back
but the plan is to show you that I understand you are appreciated” As a female entrepreneur, I have learned so much from my mom to apply to business and to life.

Here are 3 Valuable Tips I have learned from my mom that I can apply to business and life.

Follow Your Passion: As a kid I grew up going to business meetings with my mom and watching her captivate an audience with amazing public speaking and networking skills. It was a sight to behold. I would practice in the mirror late at night when I was younger to be able to speak like her. The most amazing part that I admired was the passion she displayed in her presentations. It was so inspiring! She has always taught me, when you lose focus on what matters the most, take the time to refocus and discover the passion of why you started and continue on your journey. Check out my post about Following your Passion.

Never Give Up: My mom’s favorite quote is “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” One thing I have learned from my mom is life gets tough, but you should never give up. You have to keep on fighting. Even if you fall five times, pick yourself back up and keep going. Have faith in yourself and just keep going. Keep in mind that you’re the crafter of your future. If you don’t like where you are today, it’s up to you to create and invent what you want your life to be like and then strike out on the journey to accomplish it. If at first you don’t succeed, then try and try again. The fire in your belly is what gives you the drive to fight through the nay sayers and road blocks to achieve the success that you deserve.

Enjoy the Journey: My mother always says you have to take the time to enjoy the journey of life from the successes to the failures. Life is a journey and no one has it figured out. Take the time to learn from the failures and see how you can come out stronger the next time. Take the time to enjoy your successes, but never get comfortable. Always be working on your next goal in life, so you can keep moving towards your vision continually growing to become the best that you can be.

Thanks MOM for all that you do! Thanks for inspiring me in life and business. I only hope to be an amazing mom like you one day. What lessons have you learned from your mom? Share them below.
